Welcome to Fourth Grade!
Welcome to our class! I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year. We have many academic objectives that we will be covering in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science.
Language Arts:
Students will sharpen their comprehension skills and strategies; develop listening and speaking skills; work on elements of grammar and strengthen study skills through both fiction and non-fiction texts.
Social Studies:
Students will focus on the regions of the United States through interactive activities.
Mathematics:
Students will learn place value to the millions, two digit multiplication, two digit division, fractions, geometry and measurement. Each unit is focused around mathematical situations which help students become skillful in problem solving. The curriculum is structured to help students learn to communicate their strategies and their reasoning so that their mathematical understandings are much deeper.
Science:
Students will observe, describe, and record test results; collect, analyze and draw conclusions from data; learn to plan and conduct tests with controlled variables; and support conclusions with reasons that are based on observation and experience. Our studies will include the units of "States of Matter", "Views From the Earth", "Electricity", and "Living Organisms".
